"REAL" Patient day....

Can I just say today was great! I woke up and was so nervous. I thought I was really going to throw up! But little did I know it was going to be so good. My patient was amazing. X-rays went well, which I was scared for! I only missed 1 deposit, so excited about that. Overall great day...I can't believe that the semester is almost over and how much I have learned. It's an awesome feeling. Hope everyones day went great!

LAST PE!!!

We had our last pe today. It feels amazing that it is all over...ALMOST! I can't believe that it is time to see our "real" patient. Hopefully it goes good. Good Luck Everyone:)

Busy day!!!

Clinic was so busy today. We had 3 pe's to pass off. It was a lot. I am so glad that they are done. I am starting to see a lights the end of the tunnel! I can't believe that our 1st smester is almost over. I went so fast. I am so ready for that christmas break! Only one more pe to pass off in clinic woohoo!!!

Worst day EVER!!!

Okay maybe it wasn't the worst but it sure wasn't fun. We learned how to use the air-powder polisher. First off it had the worst taste. It tasted like minty salt...so sick. Second it was a mess. It ended up everywhere. And last it hurt like crazy:) I seriously do not see myself using it on my patients any time soon unless they have major stains. NOT a fan. Then we learned how to place sealants. I have done it a couple of time before so it wasn't to hard, definitely not perfect at it...yet. I am sure I will get lots of practice:)

What a Relaxing Day!!!

Today was amazing:) I got to sit back in the chair and be the patient! I loved it, it was so nice to not have to worry about anything today. Natalie did a great job. I can't believe that we will be seeing "real patients" real soon. This makes me was nervous. I don't think I am ready...but I guess I probably will never be...

Mock Patient Day

So we had a mock treatment day. We worked on pt that we have not seen yet. It was nice to actually do everything today and not have to rush to make sure there was enough time to switch partners. Thanks Natalie for being a great patient:) I got to pass of 2 pe's today which was great. Overall it was a really good day...I am looking forward to being the patient on Wednesday!!

Finally the weekend!!

This past week has felt SO LONG. I was definitely look forward to the weekend...and it is HERE. I am so glad that I took the radiology test yesterday. It went really good. Hope everyone has a great weekend...see you Monday:)

"SELECTIVE" polishing

Today we learned how to polish. It was alot harder than I thought it would be. It was so hard for me to keep a constant speed. Denver probably wanted to shoot me but she was a trooper:) We also had to brush and floss our patient. It is so much different to do it in someones mouth. I also passed off my intra-oral which was great! Today was a really good day...

What a Day!!!!

SO TODAY WE HAD TIME TO GET SOME MORE PRACTICE ON SCALING. IT IS GOING PRETTY GOOD. I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE LOWER LINGUALS. IT WAS STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE BIT BETTER BUT MOT GREAT:) HAILEY I AM SO SORRY YOU HAD TO BE MY PARTNER TODAY:(

More Scaling

Today we learned how to use the curet. I thought that it went pretty good. I also passed of two pe's, which is an awesome feeling:) I feel like things are starting to relax. I don't feel as stressed as I us to. I think I am doin pretty good, it's awesome.

Okay Day...

Today in clinic we learned how to use an intra-oral camera. I was pretty sweet. I am excited to get to use it on a patient so they can see what I am seeing. I wish I could of had more time to work on my scaling but not luck there! I got that short end of the stick:) Radiology went really well. We learned a new technique. I was different and one we probably will not use much. Over all today was a good day. We have a big quiz in anatomy so I better get studying!!!

What a GREAT day!

So today in clinic we did scaling! I was so fun. It feels so rewarding when you get a chunk of calculus off. When I was working on Denver Prof. Costley came over and showed me how to really get in there:) I cannot wait till I have to confidence to really into it, but for Denver I decided that I should hold off on that!!!

EXPLORING!

I FINALLY PASSED IT OFF. I HAVE BEEN DREADING PASSING OFF THIS PE. IT WENT PRETTY WELL. WE ALSO WENT OVER ALL OF OUR OTHER INSTRUMENTS THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN USING. I AM EXCITED TO START USING THEM. BUT A LITTLE SCARED TOO:) TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY OVERALL

PFI

So today in clinic we figured out PFI...My was pretty good. At first it was 92% but then we found out that she wanted us to count calculus so it was somewhere in the 80's. I was fun to see everyone's blue mouth. And of course we had to take pictures of everyone! We look super hot in them:) We also got to pratice exploring. I still feel lost. Hopefully one day I will get it!!! Over all today was GREAT!!

Another Day In Clinic!!!

SO TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY IN CLINIC. WE LEARNED HOW TO CHART FOR A NEW PT. I MUST SAY THAT IT IS A LITTLE HARD TO CHART COMPOSITE FILLINGS. SOME OF THEM LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE TOOTH. HOPEFULLY IT WILL GET A LITTLE EASIER(LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE WE HAVE LEARNED!) I PASSED OFF TWO PE'S TODAY WHICH WAS GREAT! I WAS SO DREADING THE INTRA-ORAL EXAM BUT I FACED MY FEARS TODAY AND PASSED IT OFF:) IT FELT GOOD TO HAVE IT OUT OF THE WAY!

MORE Probing!!!!

Today in clinic we did some more probing. It seems to be getting easier. I still have a hard time getting into the "col" area! When I had my check I was with in 1mm of my instructor which is fine but I think I need to be a little more aggressive but at the same time have the right angle also! It is all so much to think about. I can't wait for it to be second nature:)

Finally Done

So I finally finished all the test for this week. I have so happy they are all over and I can enjoy my weekend! I did pretty good overall and so glad that the first tests are finally over. Hope everyone did well:)

Oh No PROBING!!!

I was soo stressed out about today! I was so scared to probe Denver but I didn't want her to probe me either...I was so scared that I would have deep pockets and would have to be considered a perio patient...but it ended up being a really great day. We started by practicing on the typodonts. I thought it was way hard to probe them. Then it was time to start probing our partners. I went first...poor Den...she said I did pretty good. I poked her a little hard a couple times but nothing to serious. Then we switched...I was so not looking forward to this. Denver did really good, she got me a couple times but that is all part of learning! The best part about it was my gums are alot healthier then I thought:) Once we were finished I passes of 2 PEs. I honestly think that is one of the best feelings...Today was so much better than Monday!

I NEED SOME SERIOUS PRATICE!

So today in clinic we worked with the explorer and the right stroke to us with it. I am really struggling! I felt so bad for Denver:) She said I didn't do to bad but I think she was just being nice...I was really hoping I could pass of the HHX PE but we ran out of time. I am feeling really overwhelmed but I just have to remember to take one day at a time and that everyone makes it through! It has been hard for me to stay positive this past week or two!

Let the STRESS begin!

Oh my...I am so stressed out! This is the first time that I have felt this way since I started the program. I was wondering when it was all going to hit but it finally did and I hate it! Clinic was really good yesterday. I passed off 2 PE'S which is awesome. I am so worried about the HHX PE. I don't know why but it really intimidates me. I feel like there is so much info to know about premedication. Next week is going to be "HELL" we have 3 test, HHX Pe due. I am not looking forward to the weekend!

Clinic!

So my day started off so good! I got to the school early today and I was getting ready for lab and one of the 2nd year students came in saying the A6 passes went on sale again! I was freakin out...so I ran to a computer and bought a pass. I cannot tell you how excited I am! It is going to be so nice to have in the winter:)



Today in lab we went over intraoral exams. It was really fun to get in the mouth and check everything out! Denver was working on me and found a canker sore that it didn't even know I had! It is so crazy how everyone is so different, and for most of them it was normal. Overall it was a great day. I didn't get to pass any PE'S off but that is okay since I am ahead anyways...

WHAT A DAY!!

Today in clinic was a little more challenging. We worked on extra-oral exams and mirror and folcrum positioning. The exra-oral exam was justs fine. It felt like a nice face and neck massage! When it came time for the mirrior positiong I struggled! I am still having a hard time with what position I am suppose to be in. So after I struggled through it I felt a little more comfortable. Poor Denver had to suffer through it. Thanks Den!

Another Day In Clinic!!!!

Today in clinic we took each other's vitals. It was very good practice. My hand kills from it tough!! I must have some week hand muscles:) In radiology lab we took 4 sets of bwx. I thought that I would do a lot worst then I did considering I haven't taken many x-ray. Over all it was a very good day...I think that I might be getting the hang of things...MAYBE!!

CLINIC

TODAY IN CLINIC WE WENT OVER HEALTH HISTORIES. THEY EXPECT US TO WRITE A LOT ABOUT ANY MEDICATIONS THAT OUR PATIENTS ARE TAKING! IT FELT LIKE SO MUCH TO REMEMBER...HOPEFULLY I WILL GET A ROUTINE DOWN AND GET TO KNOW HOW TO US THE DDR A LITTLE BETTER:) I AM SURE I WILL GET PLENTY OF PRACTICE!!!! IT WAS A GOOD DAY AND I PASSED OFF 2 PE'S WHICH IS SUCH AN AWESOME FEELING JUST TO GET THEM DONE.

THE 1ST WEEK IS OVER!

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW FAST THE FIRST WEEK HAS GONE! HOPEFULLY I WILL GET THE HANG OF EVERYTHING AND KNOW WHAT IS EXPECTED FOR EVERY CLASS:) IT HAS BEEN FUN MEETING NEW FRIENDS AND LEARNING MORE ABOUT THEM.

2 DAYS DOWN!

So the first 2 days of school have passed! They were not as bad as I thought they would be but I am still really confused at what is all going on. Thankfully I am not the only one who is confused!
